I live in "City, ST", will a Sparephone work here?
ANSWER:
You can only get Sparephone service in cities clearly marked on our service map. CLICK HERE to view the service map.

Do I get a local number?
ANSWER:
Yes. The number will correspond to the shipping address.

Can I pick an area code/phone number?
ANSWER:
No. A computer picks out the area code and number from an available pool.

I got my phone, now how do I set up my voice mail?
ANSWER:
CLICK HERE for voice mail setup instructions. If you need help call 611(a free call) from your phone for customer care. Your pass code for customer care will always be the last 4 digits of your phone number.

Can I check my voice mail messages from my home/business phone?
ANSWER:
Yes. Just call your cell number and punch in * or #, then follow the prompts. If you need help call 611(a free call) from your phone for customer care. Your pass code for customer care will always be the last 4 digits of your phone number.

Do I get charged minutes if someone leaves a voice mail? What about when I go to retrieve it?
ANSWER:
Yes, both ways.

I just bought a Cingular Prepaid airtime card at a local 7-11 to add time to my Sparephone, how do I add it? Where else can I buy refill cards locally?
ANSWER:
To refill your account, dial 611 from your phone(a free call), then follow the prompts. Your pass code will always be the last 4 digits of your phone number.
You will be prompted to punch in the 13-digit PIN on the back of the new card.
If you're having troubles or it sounds like your account has expired, call 1-800-901-9878. In addition to 7-11 stores, you can buy Cingular cards at any Western Union location.

I want to check my balance and see how many days of service I have left, what do I do?
ANSWER:
Dial 611 from your phone(a free call), then follow the prompts. Your pass code will always be the last 4 digits of your phone number. If you're having billing/usage questions or it sounds like your account has expired, call 1-800-901-9878.

I'm getting the phone just for emergencies, and it will probably stay in the glove box with minimal use. How often do I need to do something to keep the service on?
ANSWER:
You get 30 days of service when you buy your Sparephone. You can check how many days left by calling 611 from your cell phone and following the instructions above.

To keep the service going, CLICK HERE for options. If you buy $25 or $50 cards to refill your account, you must add time within every 90 day period(near the end is best) to keep the phone on and ready to make/receive calls. Your unused minutes from your previous service term will automatically rollover and be added to your new balance. Buying a $25 card at the end of every 90 day period will effectively keep your cell phone bill AROUND $7 PER MONTH, and UNDER $100 PER YEAR TOTAL!

I lost/got my phone stolen, what do I do?
ANSWER:
If you lose phones alot, then a disposable phone is FOR YOU! Call 1-800-901-9878 to turn it off, and then just CLICK HERE to buy another Sparephone with new service and airtime.


What happens when I run out of minutes, will the phone automatically disconnect?
ANSWER:
Yes, but your service will still be on. You can just add a refill card and your phone will be working again with more minutes, and with extra days more service time added too.

I changed my mind. Sparephone is not for me, can I return the phone for a refund?
ANSWER:
No. Once activated, Sparephones are completely non-returnable and non-refundable.

My Nokia 2160 Sparephone sat for a while with a dead battery and now it won't charge up when hooked to the charger. What do I do?
ANSWER:
Just hold on for a few minutes and wait. When a charger is hooked up, it takes about 30 seconds-1 minute for the phone to come to life and then show "charging."

I push the ON button, and my phone won't turn on. What do I do?
ANSWER:
On these Nokia 2160 phones, the ON button has a delayed reaction. You have to PUSH DOWN HARD and HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN for several seconds. If the battery is charged or the phone is hooked to a charger, it will come to life.

What do when I am through using my Sparephone and want to cancel service?
ANSWER:
Just chunk the phone in the trash and you're done, or throw it at a wall, or out the window, or into the lake, etc.
All accounts not renewed do automatically expire with no paperwork or correspondence needed.

What happens if Sparephone.com goes out of business offering such cheap phones and accessories? Does my service turn off?
ANSWER:
No. The service would stay on as long as you can keep buying Cingular prepaid airtime cards at 7-11 and Western Union.
